I've been just a little bit lazy with my site stats - for the most part I'll use Webalizer as a basic guide, but where Awstats is available, I'll tend to use that more.

However, I think it's now high time that I looked for a more in-depth - and *reliable* stats package, that will provide excellent tracking stats, demographic info, and especially trace links in and searches from search engines accurately.

I don;t mind at all paying for such a service - but I need to get a good idea of what's actually out there.

I did use Superstats at one time - excellent tracking, but rather expensive for what you got - $25 per month for less than 50,000 page views, which is far too little - I need to be able to track in the region of a million plus pageviews.

 Any suggestions welcome. Smiley

I recently had a two week free trial of the click-metrix statistics package, and I must say I was pretty impressed. The information from search engine referrals, PPC click throughs and visitors clickpaths was all very impressive.

Only snag was the price.. they claimed I could have it for just £11.00 a month, but I think to get the full benefit, you'd need to be spending nearer £40, which is a bit steep. Nevertheless, I would recommend anybody to take advantage of the free trial offer.. it was very easy to implement, and just as easy to remove.

Ah, poop - it's when they talk about pageviews that kills it - it means they are useless for forums, which tend to incur rather large page view number.

Just to add, I'm lined up for a demo of clicktracks this week - should be interesting. Smiley

I use statcounter.com - its free. Smiley  which is always good for me.

It gives a lot of great information - where the visitor came from , IP address, pathway, exit page, how long they stayed on what pages, what they clicked on...

What would a paid service have extra?
