Hello there. Some advise needed.
When you are offering further information on certain conetnt within your webpage, eg further links to another topics such as "How to", "about", "item info" or "Buyers Guide", is it advisable to use a javascript to produce a popup window or just a regular page? Is there a rule to follow when choosing between popup vs. a static html page?

Thanks for your input.

Quite frankly, I'd go with a static page rather than the javascript.  I am very interested in quick and 'clean' websites that load fast.  I'm on dial-up (like 40% of all internet users), and anything 'fancy' loses my interest in the site fast.

I use all static with the exception of e-mail links. Pop up blockers will filter out a percentage of your pop-ups before your customers ever see them.

emmm...I have forgotten the pop-up blocker! Agreed, most users will have some sort of pop up blocker while surfing the net. By the wat, should I redirect visitors to the page where I wanted to show them the additional information? or should I code it in a way that a new window will open up?

Who cares about pop-up blockers? YOu should have never thought about pop-ups in the first place!
Pop ups will only drive your visitors away! They are really annoying.

I agree with the others on this one. Popups can be a pain in the butt, but I don't think it will lose you too many visitors--unless the website is very large.

Pop up blockers are great. I prefer them. Pop ups will turn people off because they are more of a nuisance than anything else.
