Hello there. Today I re-visited the "web Ring" once again. I think it has been around for quite some time if I remember correctly. I think it was means to group those sites that has relevant themes or topics together, and form a circle of social network.

I didn't use it or joined so far. Has anyone here had their site(s) joined before? or is still with it?

How was the outcome then? was it beneficially in term of drawing the relevant traffic to your site? and some of these visitors had actually becoe your customers? Or visitors were just dropping by to browse, and then leave??  Undecided

Kind to share?

These days, I pretty much consider a web ring on a business site to be unprofessional. Not sure if there is standard on that.

I have one webring on one of my sites. (I should say I belong to one webring and have their code on my site).  It is small and unobstusive at the bottom of my page.  I have gotten visits from it and customers as well.  That's why I keep it there.

What I believe is really unprofessional is when people fill a whole screen's worth of their page with a dozen or more webrings.  I' can't imagine that does much for your site's appeal.

I can see it, if it's done tastefully - and small. I've opted not to do business with sites that had four or more large webring graphics on them.

I can completely understand why.  Even though I belong to one still, webrings kinda make me think of teenage cliques.  "Hey, look, we're all in a group together!" and some of the graphics are just huge.

I would venture to guess that most people that come to my site don't even notice the webring at the bottom at all.

I could go on forever about huge graphics in webrings and, especially forum sigs.
