I am not sure whether this is true or not, but google seems to be placing certain emphasis on server or host's IP and its location??! Huh Is anyone here facing trouble with their site(s) SERP because their server location is not in the US?

Or is this just a myth??

My server is in the US, but I could see this happening. It would only make sense, imo.

Nope. My server is in Germany. And my SERP is fine. I mean, I am on the 1st page in google for the keywords I am targeting... so I guess I cannot complain.

I've heard about this though. I believe as long as you provide quality content goole will really "do no harm" to your website.

I can see having a server located in certain countries counting against page rank. I can think of one country off the top of my head infamous for the amount of spam and phishing generated.

Well, Taia, it's not the country guilty for it, but the people misusing the tools. Google does not punish quality websites for what others do. So it doesn't matter where in the world the server is located. Remember google's credo: "Do no harm"

So... "do no harm" and google will not harm your SERP or PR.

I didn't know that was Google's credo.
