Getting the public to market your product, business, or website is really a great idea, I think.

Can anyone share ideas on how to get a viral marketing campaign really going strong?  I think that if you run a business or internet type of website, offering a branded free ebook is a great idea... but what if you have an ecommerce shop selling, for example, jewelry or socks or something.

Can you use viral marketing effectively for this type of thing?

It really depends on what you are selling. If it is jewely, maybe write articles about what's the difference between 14K / 18K gold, explain why diamonds are expensive, how cubic zirconia is made, etc. 

Socks - a little different, maybe harder. Socks do tend to wear out aftre 6-12 months.  Maybe send your customers an email, offering a discount?

As said above, a descriptive website is always more entertaining.  Of course 1080p with HDMI output may look like jargon to some, but to others, that's what they're looking for.
